Bodegas Santo Tomas Winery

Bodegas Santo Tomas is one of the oldest wineries in the American Continent and the second oldest one in Mexico. It’s named after Mission de Santo Tomas Aquino. In the late 1700’s the Dominican friars founded Santo Tomas and they were exclusively producing wines for church services only. In 1888 Francisco Andonegui and Miguel Ormart purchased Bodegas Santo Tomas and turned it into a commercial winery. Currently, Grupo Pando operates and manages Bodegas Santo Tomas. Their wines have won more than 160 medals in multiple competitions in Europe, USA and Mexico. Currently Laura Zamora is the Enologist at Santo Tomas and she’s the only female enologist in Mexico. Bodegas Santo Tomas have vines in three different valleys in the State of Baja California. Each region gives each valley its individual microclimates that, along with soil characteristics, allows for a wide range of varietals such as Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, French Colombard, Barbera, Mision, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Tempranillo and much more.
